Pediatric Cancer Support
Most people don’t realize the emotional, physical, and financial toll that pediatric cancer has on patients and their families. Our family was surrounded by loved ones and friends throughout his treatments, and this allowed us to have enough resources to give to Jordan entirely. Not everyone with a sick child is as fortunate.
Pediatric cancer burdens families. At six months after diagnosis, 29 percent of families reported at least one material hardship – up from the 20 percent who reported material hardship at the time of diagnosis. Six months after their child’s diagnosis, 20 percent of families reported food insecurity, 17 percent reported energy insecurity, and 8 percent reported housing insecurity.
